Arless Day’s collage-paintings of interiors, often appearing realistic on first glance, actually are dream environments created from scores of images collected from publications and assembled into a surreal and invented world. His Technicolor-like settings, each with a character of its own, invite viewers into a scene that appears to be waiting just for us.

Arless Day ’s landscapes, actually collages of various complementary places, are so perfectly melded they usually are first seen as paintings or photos of an actual scene. Closer examination of his surreal environments often lead us to seek a missing element or the answer to what Day calls “little mysteries.” His works are in the permanent collections of more than 50 museum and major corporations.
